Baylor Medical Center [wireless study]
Blackberry Becomes Link To Productivity and Healthcare Performance For Baylor Medical Center, Thanks to Our Wireless LAN Solution
In a typical day, a doctor at Baylor will receive about 200 emails. Before BlackBerry,
these emails were on a desktop PC, at their office, which may or may not be located
in the hospital where they were working. Emails come from a variety of sources, but
are often from internal administrators, pharmaceutical companies, other doctors, nurses
and other suppliers.
“BlackBerry gives the doctors more freedom,” says Brad Rayburn, senior
architect. “If they need a piece of information, they don’t have to be
tied to their desk waiting for it. It gives the doctors more mobility,
so they can see other patients.”

City of Logan Police Department, Utah
[case study]
Located 80 miles northeast of Salt Lake City the City of Logan, Utah boasts a
population of over 45,000 residents and spans 16.8 square miles. With
50 officers and additional support personnel; the Logan City Police
Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city
responding to over 20,000 incidents a year.
Logan wanted to enable officers on the beat with real-time
data access. As a result, the force's IT department began
looking for a technology that would enable officers to communicate
between their patrol cars and headquarters to seamlessly access
mission critical information and resources from the police
Department's network. They found Ecutel
was the answer to both their security and network roaming
needs.
