Ecutel maintains enterprise focus as it adds security to its mobile VPN platform
·
Ecutel has delivered a new security module
for its Viatores mobile VPN platform. The company has named the new module
Endpoint Automated Security Intitiative (EASi) and is
primarily targeting the enterprise market with it.
·
EASi is configured through a graphical user
interface and integrates directly into Viatores' management console.
Administrators can set very granular triggers for EASi to monitor and to react
to in real time with specific actions.
·
The primary benefit of EASi is to monitor
and manage mobile devices continuously, both as a user attempts to log in to a
network and subsequently during a user's entire logged-in session.
Dubbed EASi, Ecutel Systems' new security module is intended to simplify the administration of mobile device security, access control and management. Central to EASi is the ability to automate the management of mobile users and their devices in real time (or, put another way, on the fly), and to maintain a constant monitoring of devices as long as they are connected to a network. Management of EASi is provided through a GUI and integrates with Viatores' management console. EASi allows IT administrators to define automated actions at very granular group and single user levels. EASi can, among other things, start or stop processes; add, delete or change registry settings; quarantine or disable a device; provide alerts or messages to users; and check software versions (including patches).
Before allowing a connection, EASi will check a user's device to ensure that proper software is installed, that relevant security options are enabled and that policy management processes are being observed. Should a device lack a piece of software for example, a particular virus update EASi can take immediate actions in real time to properly provision the device so that a user can log in and use the network. EASi will also continue to monitor a device in real time throughout a logged-in session so that policy management procedures continue to be followed or enforced.
The
451 take
Ecutel continues to add features to its Viatores mobile virtual private network (VPN) platform that should play well within the enterprise. The emphasis here on automating the handling of a variety of security issues works from two perspectives. First, it provides enterprise IT security teams with a means to ensure that security policies are in constant force. Second, EASi's ability to take immediate and automatic actions will not only allow those IT security teams to breathe easier, it also allows mobile users to have a much better end-user experience that does not discourage attempts to override security policies the best security is seamless security that remains in place. EASi looks to us to be a differentiator at least for the time being.
